Standard UnitsSolar Testing Equipment

Our range of standard light soakers comprises the Sunirad A-65, Sunirad B-65 and Sunirad C-65, named after the class of their light spectrum. Those machines are based on Solaronix' exclusive high efficiency light source, the Lumixo engine. The Sunirad product line is declined in spectrum qualities of either Class A, Class B or Class C, as reported in the comparison table below.

An elegant and compact construction makes the machines easy to install in every premises, thanks to a remarkably small footprint. The lower part of the equipment further saves room by offering a comfortable space to fit the chiller unit. The upper part of the machine is equipped with the light sources positioned above the illumination chamber.

A uniform and diffuse light is brought onto the samples thanks to very efficient reflectors, carefully placed in the chamber. These three machines share a spacious illuminated area of 65 x 65 cm for your samples. A drawer allows easy insertion and removal of the samples in the machine. This drawer features a sample holder made of anodized aluminum, thermostated by water circulation.

The sample holder is designed to ensure a controlled temperature of ±2°C under an irradiation of 1000 W/m2 (in the range of 40°C to 55°C). The samples can be maintained in place thanks to the optional vacuum chuck embedded into the thermostated sample holder. A data logging system records irradiance power and sample holder temperature for a better traceability of your measurements.

Sunirad A-65 and Sunirad B-65

Sunirad A-65 and Sunirad B-65 rely on two Solaronix' Lumixo engines to obtain either a Class A or Class B spectrum. They ensure together an irradiance uniformity of Class B* or better. Moreover, thanks to the very long lifetime of these serviceable light sources (20'000 hours), the long term stability on Sunirad A-65 and B-65 is superior or equal to Class B* (provided room temperature is balanced).

Sunirad C-65 (for a-Si)

Sunirad C-65 is the economic equipment dedicated to the light soaking of amorphous silicon (a-Si) solar cells, or other solar cells having a similar spectral response. This machine features a yellow shifted Class C spectrum, specifically optimized for a-Si testing, using one Lumixo light engine and additional halogen bulbs.

Thanks to an excellent overlap of the Lumixo light emitter and the a-Si spectral response, an irradiance of 800 W/m2 is enough to obtain nominal short-circuit current on a-Si cells. Since the additional halogen bulbs don't contribute significantly to the current generation of the a-Si cells, the halogen lamps can be switched on only when IEC 60904-9 Class C spectrum is needed for standard testing. Consequently, routine operation of the Sunirad C-65 has a low power consumption. It only emits the targeted amount of light for testing a-Si cells.
