The Current Table by Marjan van Aubel is featuring Solaronix’ Solar Cells

March 13th, 2014

The photovoltaic technology developed by Solaronix offers the advantage of performing in diffuse light conditions, including indoor.

London-based designer Marjan van Aubel has just unveiled her latest creation, the Current Table.
Her sublime piece of furniture makes here a clever use of our solar modules for indoor application.

Indeed, the glass surface of the Current Table is made of Solaronix’ colored and transparent photovoltaic panels,
which pattern was tuned to match the esthetic of the furniture.

During day, ambient light is converted to electricity by the photovoltaic glass surface, and stored in batteries elegantly dissimulated in the table structure.
Then, USB ports present on each side of the Current Table allow to juice up your favorite portables devices from a renewable energy source.

Marjan’ realization is a superb example of a blend of art and technology.
Not only those solar panels contribute to the esthetic of the Current Table, but they also convert daylight to electricity for later use.
